Financial Aid

We know investing in your education is a big deal. In addition to payment plans, financial aid is also available in the form of grants or loans. You will automatically be considered for all types of financial aid once you have completed the financial aid application process. Determine your eligibility by filling out the FAFSA.

    • Pell Grant – A non-repayable federal subsidy awarded to students for post-secondary education, based on financial need. See if you qualify.
    • MASS Grant – A Financial aid grant program for income-eligible undergraduate students who reside in Massachusetts and are enrolled in an approved degree or certificate program at one of the state’s colleges or universities. MASSGrant Award Terms & Conditions
    • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans – Loans available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow based on your cost of attendance and other financial aid you receive. You are responsible for paying the interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during all periods.
    • Federal Direct Subsidized Loans – Loans available to undergraduate students with financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow, and the amount may not exceed your financial need. The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest on a Direct Subsidized Loan while you’re in school at least half-time, for the first six months after you leave school (referred to as a grace period*), and during a period of deferment (a postponement of loan payments).
    • Private Education Loans – Private loans can help bridge the gap between the cost of education and other available aid. As all private loans are subject to credit approval and the interest and fees set with the respective lender, we recommend the use of private educational loan programs only after all other types of financing are considered. We encourage you to fully research the loans and lenders that best fit your needs using ELMSelect (elmselect.com), a neutral lender and product comparison tool.

How do I apply for Financial Aid?

    1. Complete your online application (no fee) including official transcripts
    2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to electronically submit your financial aid application. Merrimack College’s Federal School Code is 002120.

TRANSCRIPTS & TRANSFER CREDITS

Because every student is different, we will complete an official transfer evaluation that considers previous coursework from accredited institutions, any prior learning from workplace training or portfolios to demonstrate learning, and any testing.
