This course provides a focused introduction to quantum communication principles and network systems. Students explore how quantum phenomena such as entanglement and superposition can revolutionize the way we transmit information. Key topics include quantum key distribution, quantum teleportation protocols, entanglement swapping and quantum repeaters for long-distance networks — and the vision of a future “quantum internet.” Throughout the course, students contrast quantum communication methods with classical networking to highlight the unique capabilities and challenges of quantum systems. Students gain a solid understanding of how quantum communication works, its potential applications and limitations in real-world networks and how it fits into the broader context of quantum technology.
